Specifications
The four figures that commit a lot
-
46 - 52 lbs / 80 kg
KOR yield
Kernel mass obtained per 80 kg bag. This is the figure that determines your processing yield, and it is tested on sample before every shipment.
-
180 - 220 nuts / kg
Nut count
A lower count means larger nuts, and therefore higher grade kernels after shelling.
-
≤ 10 %
Moisture
Beyond this, container mould risk becomes critical over a six-week crossing. Moisture is re-checked before stuffing.
-
17 - 18 t / container
Container load
A 20ft container in 80 kg jute bags. Volumes negotiated case by case depending on the season.
From collection to container
Six steps, one lot number
The number assigned on receipt follows the lot through to the destination port. That is what makes traceability verifiable rather than declared.
-
Collection from cooperatives
Direct purchase from over 50 partner cooperatives. Every delivery is jointly weighed and linked to its origin.
-
Controlled drying
Drying on dedicated floors down to 10 % moisture or below. This step determines how the lot holds up in the container.
-
KOR test and nut count
Representative sampling, manual shelling of a sample, weighing of the kernels obtained. The result appears on the quality certificate.
-
Segregated storage
Ventilated warehouse in Boke, lots separated by origin and season. Moisture is re-checked periodically throughout storage.
-
Bagging and marking
Jute bags of approximately 80 kg, marked with the lot number. The marking follows the bag through to the destination port.
-
Inspection and stuffing
Pre-shipment inspection, container stuffing, customs documentation. Buyer-appointed inspectors are welcome.
Frequently asked
What processors ask
How is KOR measured?
On a representative sample drawn from several bags of the lot. Nuts are shelled by hand, kernels weighed, and the result reported per 80 kg bag. The method and result appear on the quality certificate issued with the lot.
What is the minimum volume?
We work by the container. A 20ft holds approximately 17 to 18 tonnes in jute bags. For larger volumes, terms are negotiated case by case depending on the season.
Is KOR guaranteed by contract?
Published ranges are indicative. The exact KOR of each lot is confirmed by contract, based on the test carried out before shipment. Buyer-appointed inspectors may attend sampling.
Do you supply outside harvest season?
Yes. The Guinean harvest runs February to June. We secure volumes during the season and hold them at our Boke facility, in ventilated warehousing with moisture control, allowing year-round availability.
